Speech First’s Statement Regarding Decision in MAHANOY AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT v. B. L.

“This case brings up a number of very important questions regarding free speech. What is considered on and off campus speech? To what extent do schools have the ability to restrict speech? What is the role of technology and social media in all of this and how will they continue to challenge previous rulings? Many of these questions are still open and remain unresolved. But we are grateful that the court recognizes the limitations on schools to restrict free speech.”
