Free speech nonprofit sues IU officials for bias incidents policy

A nonprofit on Wednesday sued Indiana University President Pamela Whitten and more than a dozen other university officials for enacting a bias incidents policy that the organization says chills free speech.
Speech First claims the policy violates Indiana University students’ rights under the First and 14th amendments of the U.S. Constitution. The policy is “designed solely to deter, discourage, and otherwise ‘prevent’ students from expressing disfavored views,” the nonprofit says.
