Director of Operations, Speech First

Description: The Director of Operations is a full-time position for a process-driven project manager who can work independently to oversee all administrative actions across the organization, including bill approval, onboarding, and vendor management.  This role will be responsible for ensuring that all vendors and departments work together efficiently and seamlessly toward our mission of protecting free speech in higher education. The successful candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills, possess a sense of urgency and individual responsibility, and adhere to high ethical standards. Strong knowledge of or experience working with non-profits is required. Background in human resources is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as point person for the core Operational Processes of the organization- budget assistance, financial tracking and bill approval, and benefit administration
  • Manage vendor relationships with our email marketing firm, digital/social media agency, and direct mail fundraising team- attend biweekly meetings, communicate program updates, facilitate content approval
  • Manage Recruitment and Hiring- collect resumes, screen candidates, develop offer letters, oversee onboarding
  • Be responsible for updating and improving employee policies and procedural checklists
  • Assist with board reports, meeting preparation and metrics tracking
  • Manage account access and passwords across all platforms
  • Serve as administrator for Google Mail and Google Voice accounts, including management of the general contact email account
  • Assist with annual state and federal tax filings including 990, audit, and state charitable solicitation registration
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in relevant field
  • Demonstrated abilities in writing and copy editing preferred
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity and excellent judgement.
  • 5-7+ years of operations and program management experience
  • Background that includes working with 501c3 nonprofit organizations
