Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives could be thrown out at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The university’s board of trustees voted Monday to spend $2.3 million earmarked for DEI programs on campus safety instead.

The move comes on the heels of a flag-related incident that went viral on social media. Anti-Israel protesters took down an American flag on the UNC campus and flew a Palestinian flag in its place.
